Some notes about being an umpire:
 

• minimum age - you must turn 13 in the year you are going to umpire.
• for 2011, you must have been born in 1998 or earlier.  
• you must be re-carded each year at the last level that you obtained or higher.
• you must have a level 2 card to umpire at the Rep / AAA level.
