Victorious 2010 West Hill Rookie Selects
West Hill's Rookie Ball team
continues to roll. The team is improving at an amazing clip. They had been
finalists in the last two tournaments, the West Hill tournament and Etobicoke.
In Etobicoke they lost by one run to Bloordale in the bottom of the 7th in a
hard fought battle. It was a difficult loss as they had defeated Bloordale 8-3
the previous day. But the boys held their heads high and the team knows that
they are capable of bringing home the gold. And then last weekend, that
experience and confidence paid off as West Hill won the Wexford tournament. In
convincing fashion, the Blue Hawks mercied Oakville in the final. They had great
bats but defense won the day as they even shut down a bases-loaded situation
with a wonderful 1-3-2 double play to end the third inning threat.
The team is also now in first place in the Toronto East Baseball Association
loop. They recently handed North Toronto their first loss, with an impressive
13-2 victory. To demonstrate how far the team has come, North Toronto defeated
West Hill 13-2 in the first game of the season. Congrats to the team, and good
luck in their Toronto play downs.
